Presenting Miss Monroe!

50's picture of Monroe's achievements Sexy sexy. (=

Monroe highlights

So everyone immediately thinks about Coca-Cola & Marilyn Monroe when asked about America. Indeed, she's the ultimate American icon globally hands down. But what made her a household name? Here are some highlights! (=

• 1935 - Norma Jean enters orphanage and this reflects her life when she was living in poverty and hardship which she eventually overcome through her hard efforts.
• 1946 - Norma Jean changed her name to Marilyn Monroe and started imprinting her blonde locks and deep blood red lips.
• 1953 - One of Marilyn Monroe’s most influential works, ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ premiers, consist of the familiar work of ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’; The first issue of Playboy magazine with Marilyn Monroe as the cover girl.
• 1954 - Marilyn Monroe visits and entertains the troops in Korea after the Armistice.
• 1955 - ‘The Seven Year Itch’ premiered which includes the most famous and memorable image of Marilyn Monroe, where she was dressed in the infamous white dress while air billowed from the subway ventilator beneath her.
• 1962 - The most memorable public appearance, but sadly also the last when Marilyn Monroe sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to the President.

On top of this, she had a whole lot more of achievements which influenced many pop artists of the century to include her elements & feature Monroe in their works. Take Madonna for instance, she is heavily influenced and basked in the Monroe vibe. (=

Pop & Monroe

Well, pardon for the late updates! Hectic we are, arent we?

Anyhoo, lemme bring you into the world of pop culture influence by Marilyn Monroe.

But first, what's pop culture? Pop culture is basically entertainment, beliefs, fads and lifestyle. This being, whatever each & everyone of us consume daily is pop culture! Now, we all do like gossips & entertainments don't we? So by right, everyone is exposed to pop culture everyday! Make sense? Hee.

So, really, it's boring if I throw you a whole paragraphs of words so lemme make your life easier by putting up images! (= I'm a kind soul heehee.

Her styles & elements can be found vastly in the field of arts, fashion, music videos & celebrities' portrayals. Now you know where Xtina & Lady Gaga got their famous blonde lock ideas from! (=

WOOHOO

tmr is the day for us to pass up the research paper..
i need not to put any reminders on the dos and donts, since kat and suwern had done it.=)

but still, dont forget, do prepare for your presentation on wednesday..
no slides...
for those who have photos to show, ms c prefer to be printed out rather than show it via laptop~
should i print out EDISON CHEN'S SCANDAL PIC?????????????
hahahah... =pppp

ps: Arial 11 is fine too for the research.. =p

good luck!

keep checking until the second u go to the printing shop!

REMEMBER!

Hey guys,

DON'T FORGET!!!!!

The interviews that are recorded right is 1.5 spacing. Not 2.0!
Referencing is the same.. Don't number it and be sure not to tab it or anything like that..

The rest - JUSTIFY!! 2.0 spacing, Times New Roman, Size 12.

Just in case you guys forget. =)
We need to give Miss Cheryl two marking criteria's.
- One clean and clear one.
- One with all the recorded marks.

All the best in compiling and polishing your research paper PEOPLE!

Good night..

Compilation of Materials

Hello! So we are compiling and submitting our research paper tomorrow :) It had been a long journey, isn't it? Hopefully everyone enjoyed doing their research and yeah, maybe this might help out a little. It's on how to arrange your materials to be submitted tomorrow.

Page 1: Title Page (Title, Name, Matrix Number)
Page 2: Abstract
Page 3: Background
Page 4: Literature Review and Theoretical Framework
Page 5: Research Methodology
Page 6: Findings
Page 7: Discussion
Page 8: Appendices
Page 9: References

Attach (NOT STAPLE) 2 marking criteria along with your materials, one with the latest updates of marks up to the discussion part and another blank one with no marks at all. Oh, and instead of binding, use the tape to combine your material :) Basically that's all and hope it helps :P

interview

helloooooooo~
i think everyone are correcting errors for the research paper.
i'm now doing correction for my findings and discussion.
i have lots of errors in it. and i found ways to quote interviewees. X)
here's the link. :)

HOW TO WRITE AN ABSTRACT:

Links and Tips

An abstract is a short summary of your completed research. If done well, it makes the reader want to learn more about your research.

These are the basic components of an abstract in any discipline:
1) Motivation/problem statement: Why do we care about the problem? What practical, scientific, theoretical or artistic gap is your research filling?

2) Methods/procedure/approach: What did you actually do to get your results? (e.g. analyzed 3 novels, completed a series of 5 oil paintings, interviewed 17 students)

3) Results/findings/product: As a result of completing the above procedure, what did you learn/invent/create?

4) Conclusion/implications: What are the larger implications of your findings, especially for the problem/gap identified in step 1?

However, it's important to note that the weight accorded to the different components can vary by discipline. For models, try to find abstracts of research that is similar to your research.

What we should include in Abstract?

woots! This is the 101st post! =D keep on going~!
Okay, kawan kawan yang I amat sayangi, the post below is about tips on how to write an abstract right? So, I gonna tell what you should include in your abstract! Use the following notes as a check list in your abstract!
  • Motivation:
Why do we care about the problem and the results? If the problem isn't obviously "interesting" it might be better to put motivation first; but if your work is incremental progress on a problem that is widely recognized as important, then it is probably better to put the problem statement first to indicate which piece of the larger problem you are breaking off to work on. This section should include the importance of your work, the difficulty of the area, and the impact it might have if successful.
  • Problem statement:
    What
problem are you trying to solve? What is the scope of your work (a generalized approach, or for a specific situation)? Be careful not to use too much jargon. In some cases it is appropriate to put the problem statement before the motivation, but usually this only works if most readers already understand why the problem is important
  • Approach:
How did you go about solving or making progress on the problem? Did you use simulation, analytic models, prototype construction, or analysis of field data for an actual product? What was the extent of your work (did you look at one application program or a hundred programs in twenty different programming languages?) What important variables did you control, ignore, or measure?
  • Results:
What's the answer? Specifically, most good computer architecture papers conclude that something is so many percent faster, cheaper, smaller, or otherwise better than something else. Put the result there, in numbers. Avoid vague, hand-waving results such as "very", "small", or "significant." If you must be vague, you are only given license to do so when you can talk about orders-of-magnitude improvement. There is a tension here in that you should not provide numbers that can be easily misinterpreted, but on the other hand you don't have room for all the caveats.
  • Conclusions:
What are the implications of your answer? Is it going to change the world (unlikely), be a significant "win", be a nice hack, or simply serve as a road sign indicating that this path is a waste of time (all of the previous results are useful). Are your results general, potentially generalizable, or specific to a particular case?
Credits to this Website! Good luck!
Remember! Pass up on Monday and presentation on Wednesday! =D
By the way, is anyone kind enough to post up what should we include in the compilation we gonna pass up on Monday? With all the C-L-E-A-R steps! It'll help alot for real! =D And is this blogging thing really gonna count marks? @@

Omg.... how lah how lah ... i didn;t post any post lah... how to use blogger also a problem....
hahahahaha... good evening everybody , i come to post my first post....
My topic is The Impact of Violence and Sexuality in Horror movies among College Students in Malaysia....
Everybody had gone to cinema before right , but they are many type of movie , such as romance movie , action movie , comedy movie and many many...  Why i choose this topic ?It is because  i realize that  , the horror movies recently is full of violence and sexuality scene , like Orphan , Halloween .... This two horror movies are consist violence and sexual scene that not suitable to college student or kids... They might be learn or imitate the scene and this will be the reason that change their behavior...
So , this research is to investigate the the content of sexuality and violence in horror movie that effect college student and also investigate about the impact toward the college students in Malaysia...

Media and the Environment

My topic is Media in Favor of Changing Behavior towards the Environment.
The reason why i chose this topic is because these days it seems that the environment is becoming a highly publicised issue. Many events opt for the green concept, ads that are "green" are popping up alot. The frequency of these media messages made me want to find out on the effectivity of the communication. Yes, these messages were all around but do people really change as a result of it? Does it make them more aware of the situation and keen to make a difference subsequently?
Many a times I still see people waste away paper, myself included, without even sparing a second thought of the amount of trees being cut away to process these pieces of paper.Don't get me started on recycling efforts. All that trash in my household, and none of it gets categorized and sent away to recycling centres. Hence, I decided to go with this topic because I wanted to determine how impactful media messages regarding the environment are to various people. :)

abstract!

yay! its almost the end of the semester~ =D
this week we are handing in appendix, references and abstract, i think they are pretty much links posted up for u guys to refer.
so im just gonna post up my abstract.. =p

bad english.. sorray~

The purpose of this research is to find out about the impact had on the celebrity Edison Chen after the sensational news in him and 7 female artists. The public perception also is taken into account to see the public perception towards him remained unchanged or otherwise. This research ought to be done because celebrity news is always the attraction of the readerships and it captures most of the readers’ attentions, however, publication of sensational news can actually create huge impact on Edison Chen. In this research, qualitative approach is used to obtain the results because public perception is about the huge amount of people, and their opinion on certain things. However, content analysis and survey were used to carry out the survey and to obtain the data required. The impacts that have been found out were that Edison Chen indeed had very big impact on his career as well as his personal life. Even so, the public perception was not changed even though his sensational news was being reported. To meet a more accurate data, the methodology has to be done earlier with the questions set to make sure that everything can be carry on smoothly.

thanks! happy doing and studying ppl! all the best woo hoo~
